Rare chicks spotted at Dancing Ledge

A puffling (a.k.a. a baby puffin) has been spotted in Dorset for the first time in 30 years.

Volunteers spent four hours in a boat near Dancing Ledge, Langton Matravers, to catch a glimpse of the chick through binoculars.

It represents a significant boon for the future of the dwindling puffin population in the South..

Steve Harris spoke to Dr Richard Caldow, who is leading the project to encourage puffin populations in Dorset.
