The road between Hereford and Worcester will shut at Leigh Sinton with works in the area expected to 'add an hour' to people's journeys.
The road between Hereford and Worcester will shut at Leigh Sinton with works in the area expected to 'add an hour' to people's journeys.
The closure will affect the A4103 in the village between Stocks Lane and Malvern Road, due to sewer works for a private contractor. The closure will be in effect from Monday 20 July to Friday 21 August 2026.
The A449 over the Malvern Hills and the major route into Tenbury is already closed at time of publishing.
Tammy Gooding reports.
In a statement Worcestershire County Council told the BBC the A449 closure was still necessary.
'The original repairs, to stabilise a 30-metre stretch of road affected by a landslide, were completed as scheduled in April 2026. But a second landslide occurred several hundred metres away during the latter stages of the original works, meaning it was, and continues to be, unsafe to reopen the road.
With regard to the the A4103, they say the closure relates to housing developer-led works which require access to the highway and now need to proceed, following over 12 months of delays to enable coordination of all planned highway works whilst trying to minimise disruption.'
