Thousands require new blood tests after error
Around 11,000 people have been affected due to the fault at Luton and Dunstable hospital.
It means patients across Luton, South Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire could have been misdiagnosed with diabetes. Danielle Downs, from Dunstable, is one of the people who received a false test result.
A spokesperson from the Bedfordshire NHS Foundation Trust said: "In April and July 2024 we experienced an intermittent issue with a blood test machines which may have resulted in some patients receiving results that were potentially higher than their actual result. We are currently contacting all patients whose results may have been affected to provide them with more details and invite them to be retested. I sincerely apologise for any emotional distress and inconvenience that has been caused by this issue."
