Alessandro de' Medici: The Black Prince of Florence

Alessandro de’ Medici served as the Duke of Florence from 1530 to 1537 – becoming the first black head state in modern western Europe. His story has been told in a film by Daphne Di Cinto - who is an African-Italian screenwriter, director, actor and producer. The BBC’s Hassan Arouni speaks to Di Cinto about the importance of bringing Medici’s hidden story to light.
