'I couldn't imagine this ever happening'
Russia has invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea. Ukraine says Russian military vehicles have entered the country from many directions. And cruise and ballistic missiles have struck military headquarters and airports. Ukrainian officials say at least forty Ukrainian soldiers and a dozen civilians have been killed. There are thousands of African students living in Ukraine, many of them are medical students. Hortor Joseph Kwabla is a first-year medical student from Ghana who lives in Kharkiv, which is about 600 kilometres from the capital Kyiv. He witnessed direct attacks on buildings around the city from his bedroom window. He told Focus on Africa's Audrey Brown about how the attacks unfolded.
