Female deaths due to cocaine have risen by 26.5% in 2019, according to the Office for National Statistics. Why is the number of women dying from cocaine use increasing so rapidly? Katya Adler speaks to Ian Hamilton, Associate Professor in Addiction and Mental Health at the University of York, and to Maxine Luckhurst, a peer mentor at Turning Point who has successfully completed treatment for cocaine addiction.
