“I cried for a long time”: FGM in white US Christian communities

Female genital mutilation (FGM) was carried out on Dr Renee Bergstrom in a US clinic when she was three years old. Dr Bergstrom is one of a number of women from white conservative, Christian communities who have been coming forward in the past few years to describe their painful experiences. Here she tells her story to BBC Radio 4 Woman’s Hour presenter Jenni Murray.
