Museums warned over going digital

Museums risk "hiding" away their objects by going digital, according to a leading cultural historian.

Tiffany Jenkins, author of Keeping Their Marbles: How Treasures of the Past Ended Up in Museums and Why They Should Stay There, said museums needed to be more confident about getting the public to come and see objects.

Speaking at the Hay literature festival, was also dismissive of the recent recreation of the Palmyra Arch in Trafalgar Square.

She was talking to the World At One's Martha Kearney alongside John Heilbron, author of Physics: A Short History and former Vice Chancellor of Berkeley in California.
