Stinking 10,000 tonne pile of rubbish in Yorkshire
When a waste management company went bust it left behind a stinking pile of rubbish in Great Heck near Goole in East Yorkshire that had been building up for years. It’s still there and it still stinks.
The Environment Agency says it's conducting 'odour monitoring' at the site but no responsibility has been taken as to who will remove the rubbish.
"When we hang our clothes out to dry it stings," said Laura Watkinson-Teo who lives in Great Heck.
“Everything you can think of within household waste (is) rotting away and it’s self-combusting. Within a month there have probably been about three or four fire incidents, the fire brigade have been out so many times," she added.
