Writer Nicholas Carr: our dependency on computers is dangerous
In his new book called "The Glass Cage - where automation is taking us", Nicholas Carr argues that just as humans were affected by the development of books and machines so we are being affected by the arrival of computer automation. He says as we become increasingly dependent on computers we are losing important skills. He suggests that instead of creating new opportunities, an increasingly automated world can become like a glass cage where you are limited in what you can do.
‘We are rushing to hand over to computers tasks and activities that we may actually want to keep for ourselves’.
