In Malmesbury, Christina looks inside what’s said to be England’s oldest hotel and learns about the town’s connections to the very first king of England.

Christina is rudely awakened to present this episode from Taunton in Somerset, where a huge antiques centre beckons for two teams of shoppers. In red are friends Aimi and Neil, and in blue are siblings Joe and Bella. With expert Ben Cooper by their side, the reds wonder whether they can cut a deal with an old knife box, while the blues and Danny Sebastian ponder over a wooden propeller – but aerospace engineer Joe doesn’t think it’ll fly at auction.

In neighbouring Wiltshire, Christina visits the historic town of Malmesbury to learn about its ancient royal connections. In the abbey, she sees the tomb of the first king of England, Æthelstan, and pops next door to the Old Bell Hotel, which has been welcoming guests since 1220, including King Henry III in 1265. The hotel is now owned by a Texan businessman who has a surprising family connection to the guesthouse. At auction in nearby Chippenham, can auctioneer Tim Weeks make some right royal profits for the reds and blues?
