If I Work When I have Daughter-time, Will She Understand? - Krept

Co-parenting dad Krept faces a work-life dilemma when a gig clashes with his weekend with high daughter, forcing him to confront guilt around career and fatherhood.

After learning to take some of the pressure off his weekends with his daughter, Nala, UK rapper and businessman Krept faces another challenge familiar to many working co-parents: what happens when work and family life collide?

Krept has the chance to perform a show in Manchester, but it falls on one of the precious weekends he has with his daughter. His music career is something he has worked incredibly hard to build. It is his passion, his livelihood and part of how he provides for his family. But as a co-parent with limited time with Nala, saying yes to work can also mean giving up valuable time together.

Caught between two important parts of his life, Krept wrestles with the guilt and uncertainty that come with balancing career, fatherhood and co-parenting.

Seeking perspective, he talks to other dads about how they navigate work-life balance and the pressures of being a working parent, and reconnects with a childhood friend who knows just how hard-won Krept’s career has been.

As he considers what he wants Nala to learn from watching him, Krept begins to question whether being a committed parent has to mean putting his own ambitions aside. Can pursuing the work he loves coexist with being the dad he wants to be?

This honest, personal look at modern fatherhood, co-parenting, work-life balance and parental guilt asks a question many parents will recognise: can Krept be the parent he wants to be without making himself smaller?
