Ettlin Fur Godot and Brody the Bagpiper
Samuel Beckett’s classic play becomes ‘Ettlin Fur Godot’ and Rab meets Brody the Bagpiper.
Helen Mark MBE presents BBC Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine this week alongside Rab Lennox and Jonnie Crawford.
Helen takes in a remarkable performance of iconic Irish play 'Waiting for Godot' at the foot of the Slemish Mountain. The Samuel Becket tragi-comedy has been rewritten in Ulster-Scots and - as we hear snippets alongside plenty of background from those behind the project, the actors and the audience - there's a good argument this play was always perfect for such a translation!
Meanwhile, Rab catches up with Brody the Bagpiper - a young musician from Columbus, Ohio. Armed with an infectious enthusiasm, Brody has a huge following on social media and plans to spread the joy of piping across the United States..and beyond.
Jonnie chats with Ballycastle's Daniel McCaw about his new cook e-book and - to end - there's an uplifting poem written and read by frined of the show Anne McMaster.
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email – helen.mark@bbc.co.uk
