The church of St Swithin in Hempsted, Gloucestershire

Bells on Sunday comes from the church of St Swithin in Hempsted, Gloucestershire. Built on the site of a Norman Chapel most of the present church including the bell tower dates to the late 15th century. There are eight bells, the oldest two of which were cast by Abraham Rudhall of Gloucester in 1694. The tenor weighs ten and a half hundredweight and is tuned to the note of F-sharp. We hear them ringing Bristol Surprise Major.
