Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ Concerto

Celebrate 30 years of The Bridgewater Hall with the Hallé, featuring Liszt’s Les préludes, MacMillan’s deeply personal Sixth Symphony and Beethoven’s ‘Emperor’ Concerto.

The Hallé celebrates 30 years at The Bridgewater Hall with a spectacular Opening Night concert led by Principal Conductor and Artistic Advisor Kahchun Wong.

The programme opens with Liszt’s Les préludes before James MacMillan’s deeply personal Sixth Symphony - a series of musical portraits of four family members, culminating in a powerful finale for full orchestra.

Beethoven’s much-loved ‘Emperor’ Piano Concerto completes the programme, with Stephen Hough bringing his celebrated artistry to its dreamlike slow movement and exhilarating finale.

Recorded last month at The Bridgewater Hall in Manchester and presented by Mark Forrest.
