Butcher Brown in session and Terri Walker in conversation

Gilles invites singer Terri Walker into the studio. Plus, a special jazz-fusion session from Butcher Brown, and a ‘Righteous’ mix to round things off.

Gilles invites Butcher Brown into the Session Room to record tracks from their most recent albums, All Blues and Letters From The Atlantic, and chats with the quintet about the scene in Richmond, Virginia, their influences, big bands, and their love of jungle and drum and bass!

Elsewhere in the show, Gilles celebrates British Black music of the 2000s with R&B singer and collaborator Terri Walker as part of the BBC’s The Music Is Black season in collaboration with the V&A East Museum. She comes into the studio to share a few tracks from her 2003 Mercury-nominated album Untitled and tell us about her journey in music through the noughties.

And to close the show Gilles has an all-vinyl, uplifting ‘Righteous’ mix.
