Home of Music

Donald Macleod joins Sally Beamish at her home on the South Coast of England to explore her musical upbringing.

Donald Macleod joins Sally Beamish at her home on the south coast of England to celebrate her 70th birthday. In the first programme, Beamish reflects on a childhood steeped in music in post-war Islington, where family life, creativity and performance were inseparable. Together, they explore the early influences that shaped her as both composer and performer, from family music-making to a Shostakovich premiere at the BBC Proms.
