Martin's new book ‘Aftershock: The Seismic Impact of Dubstep’ delves into the birth and development of the UK dubstep scene, charting an oral history of the genre’s pivotal role in British electronic underground. Lauren joins Jennifer to discuss pivotal tracks that show the journey of the genre’s experimental and rudimentary beginnings to its outsized influence on dance and experimental music culture worldwide.

Elsewhere, a delightfully dubbed-out yet delicate return from The Bug, partnering with Dis Fig for the first in his ‘Ladybug’ series, in which soulfully reflective vocals are paired with earth-shuddering bass. And Oren Ambarchi's new project 'Cooked' weaves together a litany of musical elements into something that is both woozy and sharp. Also, Yanik Soland provides a melding of bowed koto, flutes, and modular synths to create “Japanese court music if it had a late-night fever dream”, and the dub continues with Prince Riser, bringing vintage Jamaican rhythms into the digital age and allowing them to echo out into space.
