Darren McGarvey is a prize-winning author, musician, social commentator and BAFTA award-winning broadcaster. His debut book 'Poverty Safari' blended memoir, journalism and polemic and was a word of mouth bestseller. His follow ups 'The State We're In' and 'The Social Distance Between Us' featured on Radio 4 Book of the Week, and Darren delivered the 2022 Reith lecture 'Freedom from Want'. Darren is leading a series of live in-conversation events at the Edinburgh Fringe, where he'll explore facets of modern masculinity in conversation with a variety of expert guests. 'Performative Male' is at The Stand from the 5th - 16th August.
