Body Theology
Paula Gooder explores 'Body Theology' why valuing and celebrating bodies is central to the Christian faith
Paula Gooder, New Testament scholar and Canon Chancellor of St Paul’s Cathedral, London, leads this service exploring 'Body Theology'.
Paula first became interested in what the Christian faith might have to say about bodies when her daughters were young. She found St Paul was very positive about bodies, particularly in 1 Corinthians 12 when comparing the church to the Body of Christ. As society still seems to be obsessed with body image, she returns home to Greater Manchester to meet with young Christian women at the Lifecentre in Salford to hear what they think about their bodies and their faith.
Paula also discusses the role the Church can play in encouraging positive body image with writer and Anglican deacon Jayne Manfredi. Producer: Miriam Williamson
