Morocco had won just two of their 16 World Cup games prior to becoming the first African nation to reach a World Cup semi-final in 2022, losing 2-0 to France in Qatar. This is the first time they’ve qualified for three World Cups in a row.

In their only previous World Cup appearance, in 1974, Haiti lost all three group games and conceded 14 goals. The 52-year gap between Haiti’s first and second appearance at the World Cup is the fourth-longest in the tournament’s history.

Group C also contains Scotland, who are facing Brazil at the same time as this game.
