Miles Davis 100: A Celebration

Jamie celebrates the centenary of jazz great Miles Davis. He plays some of his favourite works and hears from UK bass titan Dave Holland, who was in Miles' band in the 60s.

Jamie celebrates what would have been the 100th birthday of jazz great Miles Davis.

The trumpeter, composer and bandleader had an incredible impact on popular music in the 20th century. From emerging in the late 1940s with his 'cool' sound to the heights of Kind Of Blue - one of the best-selling jazz records of all time - to experiments fusing electronic instruments and rock sounds with jazz on his landmark record Bitches Brew, plus countless other explorations besides, he never stopped evolving.

Jamie plays some of his favourite works and pays tribute to the influential figure, whilst hearing exclusive reflections from UK bass titan Dave Holland, who was in Miles' band in the late 60s and early 70s.
