A tribute to Andy Kershaw and Fatoumata Diawara's Return Journey
Lopa Kothari pays tribute to the late broadcaster Andy Kershaw; and Fatoumata Diawara shares her two Return Journey tracks: one for the road and one that takes her home.
Lopa Kothari curates a selection of roots-based music from across the globe and pays tribute to the late broadcaster Andy Kershaw, a tireless champion of the world's countless folk music cultures who brought spectacular sounds to BBC audiences as a DJ, documentary-maker and audio recordist. Also, looking forward to her upcoming appearance at Liverpool's Africa Oyé Festival next month, the Grammy-nominated Malian singer, songwriter and guitarist Fatoumata Diarawa offers up her Return Journey choices: a track that reminds her of travelling, and one that takes her home.
You can hear Andy Kershaw's documentary 'Andy's Kitchen and On the Road in Africa' on Radio 3 on Sunday 10th May at 7pm, and on BBC Sounds for the following 30 days.
