The American consumer is the most powerful shopper in the world but with rising prices will they be able to spend their way out of a possible recession and what happens to the rest of the world's economy if they do not? This week Aaron Heslehurst takes the temperature of the American shopper by speaking to the boss of the US Conference Board which monitors consumer confidence, a former White House Senior Economist and the CEO of the company which owns one of the biggest online travel sites Booking.com.
