Make a Difference Day 2007Make a Difference Day 2007 was a huge success! BBC Oxford and the CSV Action Desk took 50 kids down to Oxford United to spend the day as an Oxford United player! Make a Difference Day is the largest day of volunteering in the UK and events all over the county were happening on the 20th October 2007. This year Make a Difference Day aimed to make a difference for 50 of Oxfordshire's football mad kids by taking them to Oxford United for the day. The children, who were mainly from Crowmarsh Gifford Youth Football Club started the day at Oxford Community School where they were coached by U's coaches. They then moved across to the Kassam Stadium where the children all went on a stadium tour and met the Oxford United players. They then sat on the North Stand and watched Oxford United V Woking. At half time they went on the pitch to have a penalty shoot out against BBC Oxford's afternoon presenter Jo Thoenes. The day finished with a goalless draw, but all the children and volunteers had a great day! Why not take a look at the photos from the day: Throughout the Day BBC Oxford's Phil Mercer reported back about the goings on at Make a Difference Day.
