No1 place in No1tingham

Five people reveal their most cherished places in the heart of Nottingham.

What's your favourite place in our city? The best location in Nottingham which makes you feel really proud? A spot you would show off to a tourist?

As part of BBC News and Sport on Tour we've asked five people to spotlight their most cherished place in the heart of the city.

Here they describe why their chosen locations are special.

Patrick Crowe

Patrick Crowe

Patrick Crowe (aged 56 from Mansfield)

Patrick is a retired miner. He's lived in Notts since 1967, originally moving here to help build the Cottam Power Station in the north of the county.

He claims Nottingham has the friendliest people, and this aspect is the city's best asset.

His hobbies include reading novels and being something of an escapist he also loves a good thriller. Her favourite location is the Midland railway station.

Kate Thomas

Kate Thomas

Kate Thomas (aged 44 from Newark)

Kate works in the admin department of Southwell Minster and has lived in Notts all her life. 

She says that Nottingham has some of the best entertainment and sporting venues in the UK, and highlights the National Watersports Centre as one of them. 

Kate is a member of the Newark Rowing club. Her favourite location is the Royal Centre.

Michael Toner

Michael Toner

Michael Toner (aged 58 from Sutton in Ashfield)

Michael is a retail manager and has lived in Nottingham since 1988 moving to Robin Hood county from Northants. 

He suggest shops as the city's biggest pull. Michael lists his hobbies as the movies and theatre-going.

His favourite location is the Corner House development.

Win and Louis

Win and Louis

Win Robinson (aged 58 from Edwinstowe)

Win is a part time assistant housekeeping supervisor at Center Parcs in Edwinstowe looking after the villas. She's been living in the county since 1977 and moved here from the Potteries.

She says the city's biggest asset is it's sheer diversity boasting so many different cultures. Her main hobby is gardening and she also spends a lot of time raising cash for the John Eastwood Hospice.

Her favourite location is Hockley.

Louis Booth (aged 46 from Ilkeston)

Louis runs his own decoration business, working mostly in the Nottingham city area. She lived in Bulwell for 35 years before moving closer our county's western border. 

She sites the Council House along with the new Market Square as the city's biggest asset. Louis is a keen gardener, athlete, and Forest Fan.

Her favourite location is the Lace Market.
