Richmond, Nth Yorkshire U14s, 04.12.05 On a typically cold and damp Catterick Sunday morning Sport Catterick and Bellerby Under 14s lined up to play the League cup Semi-final. Two evenly matched teams battled hard to gain an advantage at a very early stage in the game. This came in the first half when Josh linked up well with his strike partner, James to round two defenders and slot the ball home past Bellerby's keeper. The teams continued to fight hard on a very heavy pitch with many chances at both ends throughout the second half. Both keepers, Andy and Paul, who have both been trained by Sport Catterick's Head Coach, Neil Rooney, played outstandingly throughout the game. Unfortunately, for Sport Catterick, Bellerby equalised in the dying minutes of normal time which took this very exciting contest into extra time. Just when it looked as though penalties were on the horizon in the dying seconds of extra time Sport Catterick broke forward for a final push with James volleying a fine shot which rebounded off the post only to land at the feet of Josh to score his second of the game and seal the victory, much to the relief of all Sport Catterick parents who were nervous wrecks after such a nail biting contest. Congratulations to all involved for a hard fought, well matched, good humoured game of football. Good luck and best wishes to Sport Catterick for the final which we are sure, will be just as exciting. Richard Fincham, Goal Keeping Coach Catterick Under 14s |
