Write '07

The judges

Every entry submitted to Write '07 is read by one of the 11-strong judging panel.

Jackie Beere

A retired secondary school head teacher. Jackie is primarily involved in judging the children's entries.

Joanne Blake

Joanne is a story teller who is helping to judge entries by both young people and adults.

Louise Dow

Louise is the assistant editor at BBC Radio Northampton and is an avid reader of books. She is mainly judging the adult entries. Louise also helped judge Write '06.

David Garrett

David Garrett

David was born in Kettering and has lived there for most of his life. He has published poems in over 30 anthologies. He has also had a book published called 'Mistress'. During the last year, David has been working with a musician, Nick Penny; they've released a CD called 'Where Fishes Swim and Song Birds Fly' incorporating poetry, music and bird song.

Graham Holloway

Graham Holloway

Graham is the education officer at Wicksteed Park, Kettering. He is one of the founders of the creative writing competition and has been a judge since the competition's instigation. Graham is a retired teacher. He got a degree through the Open University and became head of design and careers. He is helping to judge the children's entries.

Amy Olive

Amy Olive

Amy is a former Northamptonshire journalist who is in the final year of an English degree with German at the University of Northampton. She also works as an Information Officer for Rugby Council for Voluntary Service. Since winning Write 06 she has written the first draft of a novel, which she plans to further focus on during the summer.

Marion Sharman

Marion Sharman

Marion is a retired primary school head teacher. She is mainly judging the children's entries. Marion was also a judge of Write '06. She is deeply involved in the arts and is an avid reader. Her favourite author is Maggie O'Farrell.

Caroline Skinner

Caroline is a married mother of three and grandmother of two. She has been visually impaired for 30 years and is an avid reader of talking books. Caroline is a member of Sounds Good book club which meets at Wellingborough Library. Her favourite author is Terry Pratchett. Caroline is judging entries by both young people and adults.

Sally Spedding

Sally Spedding

Sally is an author who lives in Northampton. Her first crime mystery 'Wringland' was published in 2001 and her fifth 'Come and Be Killed' came out in January 2007. She is mainly judging the adult entries.

Kate Wilkinson

Kate is Northamptonshire County Council's Literature Development Officer. She has helped organise Write '07 and will be judging entries by both young people ad adults.
