The Norwich Fringe Festival is a 16 day celebration of art in its many forms. Starting on Saturday, 7 October, 2006 it features world renowned artists like Colin Self and Sir Peter Blake alongside local names. The festival has its heart at a redundant shoe factory in Hall Road, Norwich - but it spreads much futher with the work of 60 artists on show at unusual venues across Norwich. There are 27 stops on The City Art Trail including the Theatre Royal, Grosvenor House, Dragon Hall, Jarrolds and the reception of the BBC at The Forum where you can see work by multi-media artist Zacron. Zacron is a fervent supporter of the arts in East Anglia, but is perhaps best known for being head-hunted by Jimmy Page to design the cover for the album Led Zeppelin III. His work at the BBC features an animated slide show containing more than 100 original works, giant badges carrying thought provoking messages and some of his best known prints. "It's an interesting combination. The idea of slogans so that corporate art gets involved with fine art," said Zacron. "They are thought provoking slogans which mobilise people's thoughts about art and our society and the ecological side of preserving our world and what art can do to play at part in that," he added.  | | Number Selection by Zacron (detail) |
Zacron is passionate about the annual Fringe Festival. "The beautiful thing about the Fringe is that it contains every kind of skill, from traditional to progressive," he said. "It's [the Fringe Festival] set to go nationwide in terms of its fame. Don't think of it as toy-town - it's mega," he added.
