What happened at the Great North Run 2026?

Tens of thousands of people took to the streets to take part in the Great North Run this weekend.

It is a running race that is held every year that starts in Newcastle and finishes in South Shields.

Loads of people are involved in the race and there's always some fancy outfits, some REALLY speedy runners and some famous faces too.

So let's take a look at some of this year's best bits!

What is the Great North Run?

Yesterday was the 45th time the famous half marathon has been held and A LOT more people were involved! More than 63,000 people entered the race this year. A half marathon is 13.1 miles long (that's just over 21km). The run is also known for its huge contribution to charity, with runners raising millions for charity each year.
