Three local organisations; Early Years, Barnardos and Autism NI came together to pilot a keyhole autism programme which trains nursery staff to pick up the signs of autism in very young children. The scheme also help staff to deal effectively with children who have been identified as being on the autistic spectrum. The programme has now come to an end, but as Sarah Travers found out, it has greatly benefited one little boy and his family from Newtownards.
