Horses sent for slaughter

Thoroughbred horses from Northern Ireland are ending up on French dinner tables because of the downturn in the horse racing industry.

The Department of Agriculture has confirmed that the number of horses being exported for slaughter has doubled in the past year.

One slaughterhouse in England took 1000 last year, and 300 of those were thoroughbreds.

Some trainers and owners are finding the financial going very difficult, as Mark Sidebottom reports.
