Arrests after Holylands trouble

Riot police have come under attack from people throwing bottles and stones in a south Belfast street.

Police were called to Carmel Street this afternoon as hundreds of revellers gathered in the area.

During the disturbances a car was vandalised and 12 people were arrested.

The Holylands area is popular with students and earlier today, local residents had called for them to behave during St Patrick's Day celebrations.

However, their calls seem to have gone unheeded, as BBC Newsline's Julian O'Neill reports.
