Investigation

Massereene

It was a Saturday night pizza delivery which turned into a bloodbath.

Soldiers on sentry duty at the Massereene Army Base in Antrim were ambushed by dissident republican gunmen.

Two soldiers were killed and another four people were seriously injured, including the two pizza delivery men.

Conor Macauley has this report.

It took little more than 30 seconds for gunmen launch their attack and drive away from the Barracks. Behind them they left two young soldiers dying, two more wounded and the two food delivery men badly hurt, one of them - who's Polish - in a critical condition. Vincent Kearny reports.

The latest on the four men who were injured in the gun attack is that three are said to be in a stable condition. One is said to be serious. One of the men, a civilian, needed emergency surgery.

In their statement, the Real IRA, made no apology for shooting at the pizza delivery drivers. Conor Macauley reports.
