Omagh officers cleared

BBC Newsline has learned that two police officers who were branded liars during the Omagh bombing trial have been cleared of any criminal conduct.

The judge at the time said Philip Marshall and Fiona Cooper had engaged in "deliberate and calculated deception".

He asked the police ombudsman to investigate. And now we have discovered that the ombudsman and the public prosecution service have concluded there is no evidence to support the claim of wrongdoing.

This exclusive report is from Our Home Affairs Correspondent, Vincent Kearney.
