Crusaders football stadium wall

Stadium safety update

Work has been carried out on the wall of a football stadium in north Belfast to stop it collapsing onto a busy footpath.

The wall at the opposite end of Crusaders football ground has collapsed twice in recent years, but it is not the only sports venue with safety problems, as BBC Newsline highlighted in an investigation last year.

MLAs have now been told an estimated twenty to twenty five million pounds is needed to bring them all up to scratch.

They want money, set aside for the Maze Stadium, to be immediately diverted for the work.

BBC Newsline's Julian O'Neill reports.
