Troubles report launched

Protestors have disrupted the launch of a controversial report into how to deal with the legacy of the Troubles

It was never going to be easy, but the co-chairs of the Consultative Group on the Past must have been taken aback at the anger they encountered at the official launch of their report this morning.

The public have had several days to absorb the most contentious proposal, a recognition payment of £12,000 for every family bereaved in The Troubles, but feelings ran so high that the launch was disrupted by rows and heckling.

Our Home Affairs correspondent Vincernt Kearney was there. His report contains flash photography.

It seems there are as many different responses to the report as there are victims. We spoke to a cross-section of people affected by the Troubles who attended the launch.
