Maze prison play

The Chronicles of Long Kesh explores the personal, often humourous experiences of the inmates and warders at the former Maze prison.

It's the latest offering from Belfast playwright Martin Lynch, author of "Dockers" and "The History of the Troubles (accordin' to my Da)"

With an estimated twenty thousand ex-prisoners and five thousand former warders in Northern Ireland, there should be plenty of interest in this production.

At a time when the movie Hunger showed a sombre view of the hunger strike, this one is full of music and wise cracks.

Our Arts correspondent, Maggie Taggart reports.

Watch the full interview with the play's writer and director, Martin Lynch.

For ex-prisoner Richard O'Rawe, the play brings back powerful memories of the Maze.
