The Budget Package

Would there be any Christmas presents under the Stormont Executive's tree?

Well after BBC Newsline's exclusive news last week about gas and electricity bill cuts that was the question as the Finance Minister, Nigel Dodds, unwrapped his budget package.

And it emerged there was one budget gift worth £15 million - 100,000 households will each get £150 pounds by way of a one off fuel poverty payment. The money will go to the households that need it most. Our consumer correspondent, Martin Cassidy, examines that winter fuel payment - and who will get it.

To fund this package of relief measures, the Executive has had to take money from other areas. Tara Mills looks at how some of the Assembly's grant schemes have helped those in agriculture, construction and education.

Our Political Editor Mark Devenport joined us live from Stormont to explain the budget package and its implications.
