War Hero

Lieutenant Michael Francis O'Donnell - of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers - was awarded 3 military crosses for his bravery in World War One.

Fewer than 100 servicemen in the history of the British Army have been as highly decorated. But once back in Ireland, his achievements went unnoticed and on his death in 1958, he was buried in an unmarked grave.

As Julie Kirby discovered, fate intervened in the form of an amateur historian who was determined O'Donnell should be remembered
