A 12-year-old boy has died in hospital after being hit by a car in Berkshire.
A 24-year-old man from Earley was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following the collision in Reading on Tuesday afternoon.
The boy was walking along Kings Road at 16:20 GMT when he was struck by a white Audi A1.
He was taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital and then taken to a specialist head injury unit in Oxford, but was declared brain dead at 20:50 GMT.
Police later confirmed that the boy died at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford at 14:40 GMT on Wednesday.
The arrested man has been bailed until 26 April.
