A primary school in Telford has been recognised for its work supporting the emotional and mental health of pupils, staff and families.

Meadows Primary School and Nursery, in Ketley, has been awarded the Sandwell Wellbeing Charter Mark, following an 18‑month process assessing its culture, support systems and whole‑school approach to wellbeing.

The school, part of the Four Hills Education Trust, said the award reflects a wider commitment across the trust to prioritise social, emotional and mental health.

Joseph Piatczanyn, headteacher of Meadows Primary and director of vision and strategy for the trust, said the recognition was a significant moment for the school community.

The Sandwell Well-being Charter Mark is an evidence-based accreditation for schools and voluntary organisations that commits to improving the Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) of pupils, staff, and parents.

Parents told assessors the school communicates well and creates a welcoming atmosphere, particularly during community events such as sports day and Meadows Fest.

All staff surveyed agreed the school supports their wellbeing, with many highlighting open communication and a healthy work‑life balance

Piatczanyne said: "At Meadows, we truly believe in ethos before outcomes.

"Our team surveys show wellbeing and workload have improved year on year for the past three years, demonstrating Meadows as the place to be."

He added that the Charter Mark "highlights a wealth of positive practice across the school community".
