Machine fault affects milk across Guernsey
BBCMilk across the island might look creamier than usual due to a machine fault, Guernsey Dairy has said.
The government-owned company said a defect in its processing equipment meant cream deposits had become visible in some full cream, low-fat and lactose-free cartons.
Guernsey Dairy said all the affected batches continued to meet Guernsey and EU food safety standards and passed "our robust quality and safety checks".
Customers have been advised to give the carton a gentle shake to re-mix the milk, although some larger blobs might still be visible, bosses said.
A spokesperson said: "Our engineering and quality control teams are working hard to fix the problem and restore normal looks as quickly as possible.
"We remain committed to producing milk to the highest welfare, environmental and food-safety standards."
