Peaky Blinders new cast joining Jamie Bell and Charlie Heaton revealed

The BBC have announced new casting for Peaky Blinders, which is currently being filmed in and around Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham. The series is produced by Banijay UK companies Kudos (SAS Rogue Heroes, House of Guinness) and Garrison Drama (Peaky Blinders series 1-6, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man) for the BBC in the UK and Netflix in the rest of the world.

In this new era of Peaky Blinders, set a decade after World War Two, the race to rebuild Birmingham becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. Duke (Jamie Bell) and Charles Shelby (Charlie Heaton) find themselves in a city of unprecedented opportunity and jeopardy.

At the blood-soaked heart of the city are Duke Shelby’s Peaky Blinders: Eliot (Samuel Bottomley - California Schemin’), Angelo (Arturo Muselli - Gomorrah), Frank (Eugene Collins - The Bay) and Kezia Lee (Lucie Shorthouse - We Are Lady Parts), with Ned Dennehy and Packy Lee both reprising their roles from the series and Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man as Charlie Strong and Johnny Dogs respectively.

Conleth Hill (Game of Thrones) joins as Clemmy Keeler, the fierce patriarch of the Keeler gangster family who rival the Peaky Blinders’ ambitions to rebuild Birmingham. Cal O’Driscoll (Video Nasty) is Clemmy’s son, Aidan Keeler, and Daniel Monks (All Her Fault) is Detective Inspector Bell.

The newly announced cast join Jessica Brown Findlay (Silo, The Flatshare), Lashana Lynch (The Day of The Jackal, No Time to Die), and Lucy Karczewski (Stereophonic), who were all previously announced to join the series. Details of these roles will be shared at a later date.

Steven Knight is the creator and writer of Peaky Blinders, whilst the series is directed by Mike Barker (The Testaments) and Anna Zackrisson (Detective Hole). Tim Whitby (This Town) serves as producer. Production is supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and Peaky Blinders is the first commission following the new BBC partnership agreement with the WMCA and Create Central to expand BBC and partner production investment in the West Midlands.

In the years since the original series launched on the BBC in 2013, Peaky Blinders has become a global phenomenon, winning fans across the world and countless awards, including the 2018 BAFTA for Best Drama Series.

The two new series, both 6 x 60, will premiere on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK and on Netflix across the rest of the world.
