Like a magpie, he's collected a trove of shiny photographic treasures which he can pull together to create magical montages of Manchester.

Neil says the trick is being able to see the colour in a city which has a reputation for grey skies and rain.

"Manchester has as much colour as Australia or Barcelona or anywhere else in its tiles, its stained glass, its mosaics or in its reflections.

"There's just loads of colour - you just have to blank out the beige around it."
