The shopping centre has won the prize for having the overall best toilet at the Loo of the Year Awards, an annual competition that sets out to find the best 'away from home' toilets in the UK.
It’s not the first time the centre has been a winner at the Awards – it gathered up several five-star awards earlier this year from the Loo of the Year organisers for its facilities – but it is its debut as the top place to pee in the UK. Richard Chisnell, the Awards Director, was full of praise for the facilities at the Trafford Centre, saying that "our 21st century society demands and expects a fully inclusive toileting experience and The Trafford Centre is to be congratulated for its forward thinking on this vitally important service." The centre beat off competition from nearly 1500 other entries across the 57 different entry categories to take the overall award. ![]() The Loo of the Year Award Doreen Hutton is the Centre’s Environmental Services Manager, She’s understandably happy about the award and says it’s down to some great team-work. "Winning a selection of five-star awards earlier in the year was a fantastic achievement, but to attend the National Awards and pick up the Best Overall Loo in the UK was incredible. "I would like to thank my team for putting so much effort into maintaining the toilets. We take a great deal of pride in ensuring they are in top condition and these award wins show that the efforts of the team have been recognised and rewarded. "It is certainly an incentive to keep up our high standards for next year!" last updated: 18/12/2007 at 10:37 You are in: Manchester > Features > Places > Flushed with success |
