Mama Fumilayo and Mama Toro

Mama Toro and Mama Fumilayo Ukas are both Nigerian women living in Manchester. Despite slavery being abolished 200 years ago, they say memories are still strong. The oral tradition of West Africa has kept alive what happened in their home country. They argue that many misconceptions persist, such as the belief that Africans "sold" members of their villages for money.
