Remembrance Sunday saw ex-servicemen joining families and dignitaries to pay their respects and remember their comrades who did not return. The parade included veterans representing the Royal British Legion and other associations, contingents from each of the four Territorial Army units active in the Town and cadet and youth organisations. The borough's Mayor, Councillor Derek Millard led the way in the wreath-laying ceremony at the war memorial in Katharine Street. ![]() Chat Caress Primarily organised by the Royal British Legion, they were at pains to stress that all servicemen were being commemorated not only those who fought and died in World War I and World War II. Chad Carress is the Branch Secretary of the Croydon arm of the Royal British Legion. He said: "It's the thing we do with pride and honour to recognise all those who sacrifice their lives not just in both world wars but in all conflicts." Chad is also concerned about the reported poor treatment of those troops returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. “My own personal view is that [the Iraq and Afghanistan soldiers] they are badly treated … they're not given the recognition that they deserve”, Let us have your views, or photos. email: evadney.campbell@bbc.co.uklast updated: 03/01/2008 at 17:03 SEE ALSOYou are in: London > London Local > Croydon > Community Life > Croydon pays tribute to veterans
