Made In EnglandYou are in: Lincolnshire > Made In England > Lincolnshire Artists' Society ![]() La Rambla by David Morris Lincolnshire Artists' SocietyThe Lincolnshire Artists' Society is 103 years old and started life as the Lincoln Drawing Club. The Society aims to promote among its members high standards of achievement in drawing, painting, sculpture, crafts, architecture and allied visual arts. The society holds regular exhibitions showcasing the work of members as well as lectures and workshops. Early in 2008 the society held a very successful exhibition at The Usher Gallery and, in the autumn, the society broke new ground when members' work was exhibited at the nationally renowned Patchings Arts Centre near Calverton in Nottinghamshire for the first time. The society has traditionally only exhibited at The Usher and other galleries in Lincolnshire, but in order to take the creative talent of Lincolnshire artists to a wider audience, the society is now exhibiting outside the county. This year's spring exhibition will be held at the Beverley Art Gallery from 2 May – 13 June. Frank Marston, Chairman of the Society, says: "It is a great privilege for the society to be invited to stage an exhibition of the work of its members in Beverley and I am very pleased that we have the opportunity to show the work of our talented Lincolnshire artists in a different environment and in a different county. This is a trend we hope to continue." ![]() York Minster by Derek Roberts Membership is open to anyone, amateur or professional. Artists who would like to join or anyone who is interested in supporting the society should contact David Morris, Hon.
You will be invited to submit a portfolio of work to the management committee at their next selection meeting. If your application is successful, the subscription for the year will become payable and you may submit work to the society's exhibitions in that year. For those interested in the history of the society - 'Lincolnshire Artists' is a fully illustrated book by Edward Mayor describing the first 100 years of the Society. It is available from branches of Waterstones, The Collection, Lincoln and various other galleries around Lincolnshire, or by post from Frank Marston 01472 237649.
