Retiring to Mablethorpe

Ageing population concerns

New research suggests Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire have seen a rise in the number of pensioners and an exodus of young people.

Young people are leaving Lincolnshire to further their careers, or to study, while at the same time, older people are moving into the county to take advantage of the cost of living, the landscape and the facilities provided for pensioners.

Have Your Say

Have you moved into the county to retire, or, are you a younger person preparing to leave?

There is no industry left in Lincolnshire, no decent jobs and no future. Lincoln is part student den, part retirement town. Retail is the only survivor!

I live in Spilsby I am on a training placment as it is not possible to get any work in the local town. I could have a job in Boston where I am training but the problem is transport, the local bus gets me to Boston just in time to start work at 09.00 but the last bus home leaves at 17.00hrs this means I am not able to work a full day in a retail or admin job!
